Dr. Alexandra Hart, Phd
Alexandra Hart is an expressive multi-instrumentalist based in Auckland, New Zealand, with a deep passion for devotional music and a love of Baroque and traditional Irish repertoire. Her work bridges sacred and classical traditions. She offers performances that are both meditative and artistically refined. Alexandra plays harmonium, orchestral flute, Irish flute, alto flute, and lever harp, and is also a vocalist. She has performed at meditation sessions, health and wellness retreats, and workshops in person and online across New Zealand, Australia, the United States, Europe, and Indonesia. Her work creates musical spaces that support reflection, healing, and inner connection.
In addition to her performance work, Alexandra is a composer and arranger of devotional music, including chants inspired by raga, bhajan, and kirtan traditions. She is a regular solo performer at the annual New Zealand Concert Band Festival and a member of the duo TuiBirds. Through this collaboration, she continues to explore cross-genre expression. While Auckland remains her home base, Alexandra travels internationally and shares her music with diverse audiences.
Alongside her musical work, Alexandra is also a visual artist working in oils and acrylics. Her paintings are inspired by her meditation practice and explore themes of inner stillness, light, and awareness. Her work is held in private collections throughout New Zealand, Australia and Brazil. Her art is also found in sacred contexts, including temples and retreat centres across New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and Europe.
In addition, her work is held in corporate collections in Wellington, Auckland, and Hamilton, across healthcare, finance, legal, hospitality, and wellness environments. Alexandra creates site-specific and large-scale commissioned works for organisations and businesses. These works can be tailored to reflect design intent, branding, colour psychology, spatial and architectural considerations, and the unique qualities of each location. She collaborates with interior designers and architects, and offers consultation services to support the selection and development of artwork for specific environments. Her work contributes a calming, contemplative, and healing presence in professional spaces. Certificates of provenance and insurance valuations are provided. Alexandra is available for corporate collaborations and welcomes commissions.
